Case Study: The Landing Place - Supporting the launch of a brand new restaurant

Brief Overview

The Landing Place approached Seaglow with an ambitious vision: to establish itself as the new flagship restaurant on the coastline of Bognor Regis. Recognising the potential to contribute to the town's regeneration and boost its reputation as a great place to eat, we were tasked with creating a compelling brand, an engaging online presence, and a digital marketing strategy that would generate significant local buzz ahead of its opening.

Challenge

The primary challenge lay in crafting an identity and digital presence for The Landing Place that would resonate with the locals and attract visitors, setting it apart in a competitive market. Additionally, fostering anticipation and maintaining momentum from announcement to post-launch required a nuanced, multifaceted approach. Our goal was not just to launch a restaurant but to ignite a beacon for Bognor Regis’s gastronomic scene. Bognor Regis has a long-standing tourism market and the local residents have been hoping for an oceanfront restaurant in the area for years. With the regeneration of the town becoming a key topic of debate, Seaglow were challenged to build a brand so exciting and unique to the town, that it couldn’t be ignored.

Our Response

As enthusiasts of local development and with deep ties to the community, Seaglow Media was uniquely positioned to bring The Landing Place’s vision to life. We embarked on building a distinctive brand from scratch, focusing on aspects that would appeal to the diverse demographics of Bognor Regis and beyond.

Our team meticulously crafted every element of The Landing Place's identity, from the logo and signage to the menus that would entice patrons once inside. The brand's ethos was woven into the very fabric of its digital and physical presence, creating a coherent narrative across all touchpoints.

The Landing Place is located within a historical building in the Old Town of Bognor Regis. The owners, Nick and Charly Laurence, renovated The Royal building into beautiful residential properties, saving the West Lodge at the side of the building for a two story restaurant, complete with panoramic windows for a full view of the sea.

We encompassed this story into our brand building and designed a logo that gave a nod to the heritage of the location. The emblem, in gold set upon a navy blue background, consists of a crown (to represent The Royal) and waves, which represent the sea.

The development of a website served as the cornerstone of our digital strategy. Optimised for user experience, the site provided a preview of the dining experience, facilitated reservations, and showcased the restaurant’s commitment to good food with a great view, through stunning videography and photography.

Our digital marketing strategy extended into email marketing and organic social media, where we curated content that highlighted the restaurant's unique offerings, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and collaborative efforts with local suppliers. This approach not only built anticipation but also fostered a sense of community and belonging among potential guests. We grew their organic social media to over 1000 followers pre-launch, and their channels now, just 6 months into being open, have a following of just under 4000 and a mailing list to match.

Results

The anticipation surrounding The Landing Place's opening reached a crescendo, thanks to our strategic marketing efforts. The buzz generated across digital channels translated into a highly successful launch, with the restaurant quickly becoming a topic of conversation both online and in the community.

In the first month alone, The Landing Place's website received over 100,000 visits - a testament to the compelling lure of the brand and the efficacy of our strategy. This remarkable digital footprint was matched by the foot traffic through the restaurant's doors, as locals and visitors alike were drawn to experience Bognor Regis's newest foodie landmark.

Ongoing Support

Our journey with The Landing Place didn't end at launch. Seaglow Media continues to partner with the restaurant, evolving its digital strategy, email marketing and social media presence to sustain interest, drive engagement, and solidify The Landing Place's position at the heart of Bognor Regis’s dining scene.

Conclusion

The Landing Place's success story exemplifies the transformative power of thoughtful branding and a well-executed digital marketing strategy. As Seaglow Media, we take pride in having played a pivotal role in not just launching a restaurant but in contributing to the broader regeneration of Bognor Regis.
